MacOS X 10.6.3 released, NBI updated to 0.8.4 RC1

Yesterday Apple unleashed the 10.6.3 OS update to everyone. While there are a lot of bug fixes (the download is huge) there are a fair number that don’t apply to netbooks. There is no pressing need to upgrade immediately, so don’t panic about the guides being updated yet.

Meklort has updated NBI with a new release candidate for 0.8.4. The primary benefits are support and fixes for 10.6.3 and a new auto-reinstall feature should any updates be applied in the future.

In case you can’t wait, you need to install this new NBI and then the 10.6.3 update afterward. I’m scattered between finals, a bad battery and corrupted applications right now but I should have the guides updated shortly.

Oh, NetbookCD will be getting tested during my reinstall trials. I’ll post more about that later too.

Thanks for the update! I hope the NetbookCD project includes a USB version that can be restored to a flash drive – seems like that would be the way to go with netbooks.

Greetings. I installed NBI 0.8.4 RC1 on an aspire one A0A 150 running 10.6.2 and now I am stuck at a KP with no way of entering NBI recovery mode. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

Hey – thanks for keeping an eye on this. I’ve got a new 10v and am looking forward to your how-to on installing 10.6.3… good luck with classes!

Thanks for the heads up. I too have ordered a new 10v which will arrive in a few days. I can’t wait to install the newest Mac OS. Is there anything else I need to have on hand besides a 16gb usb flash drive and a copy of Snow Leopard? I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row when I start the “process.” How will I know when the new guide is updated? Thanks again. -Jon
