Easy Installation and Custom Installation

Easy is really only useful the first time you run DellEFI. After that, you'll likely want to use the Custom option, as it allows you to define the parameters of your modification process.

Install Chameleon 2.0 RC1 r432 Bootloader

This is what allows your Dell to boot by itself. It is a small bootloader that is placed at the front of the drive. Chameleon 2.0 uses a graphical interface which is preferred by those who liked Boot Camp and want to multi-boot, but there is still a text interface available by pressing Esc.

If you have already installed the bootloader, this option will be renamed with Reinstall at the front. However, if you have restored from a backup image it will still say Reinstall, in spite of the bootloader not being present.

Use this option if you are installing Mac OS X for the first time, or if you are recovering from a backup image or multi-booting.

Install Dell Mini 9 Extensions

In Mac OS X, drivers are commonly referred to as extensions. So these are the drivers that make your system run smoothly. Without these your system won't work as well as it should.

Install old mirror friendly GMA kext

One small problem with the current extensions (drivers) is that the graphic driver doesn't play nice with mirroring (two displays showing the same thing.) This older driver works with mirroring, but it also has a tendency to show glitches (artifacts) on the screen. Spanning desktops works on both drivers. Only use this if you know that you need to mirror your display.

Hide DellEFI files

Does what it says. This hides the files that DellEFI produces during install.

Generate a system specific dsdt.aml file

This enables proper BIOS functions, such as battery power reporting and sleep. If you upgrade your RAM, you will need to use this option (renamed "Delete custom dsdt.aml file"), reboot, and the generate a new one.

Restore the 10.5.5 keyboard pref pane

10.5.6 and later do not have a proper keyboard prefernece pane in System Preferences, so the older version is reproduced to make it functional.

Enable Remote CD

Allows your Dell to access a CD/DVD drive on another computer over a network, as long as that computer has the Remote CD software installed. You can remove this later if you don't want it.

Disable Hibernate and remove sleep file

Hibernation does not work on non-Apple computers. This disables the capability and also recovers some disk space by deleting the unusable sleep (hibernation) file. Sleep mode will still work fine.

Enable Quiet Boot

Gets rid of the graphics/text after the Dell screen and boots promptly into Mac OS.

Install 2 finger scroll

Bad idea, don't use this. This is extremely unstable and unusable. If you are interesting in a scrolling touchpad driver, see meklort's touchpad thread on MyDellMini.

Fix bluetooth

Deletes the Bluetooth file in the OS, thus causing it to rebuild. It works some of the time to get Bluetooth enabled, but not always.
